How it works
FotoFacial™ procedures
with elos technology are extremely effective in the treatment of
acne. The combined energies of elos™ — natural photodynamic therapy
(blue spectrum) and infrared with RF — enables highly selective
targeting of the sebaceous glands and acne bacteria, Infrared and RF
energies reduce sebaceous gland activity while blue light destroys
acne. With elos, the surrounding skin is left free from potentially
harmful side effects. Using gentle pulses of two targeted energies
means better results with lower overall energy output — assuring the
highest level of safety and comfort. Other systems using only one
energy source can’t compare.

Frequently Asked
Questions
How
does acne treatment with elōs work?
Acne occurs when a sebaceous oil gland surrounding a hair follicle
becomes clogged with oil and dead skin cells. Bacteria grow in this
clogged environment and causes infection and acne blemishes.
The combined radio frequency and light energies of elōs technology
penetrate the skin to precisely target and destroy active
acne-causing bacteria, while also reducing the excessive production
of sebaceous oil. Treatment helps diminish active acne and speeds
the healing of existing acne.
Is acne treatment with elōs right for me?
elōs treatment works for all skin types.
When can I expect to see results?
It depends on the severity of your acne. The more severe it is, the
longer it may take for the difference to become noticeable. During
your initial consultation, your medical practitioner will
personalize your treatment schedule for maximum results.
What
elos feels like?
Treatment with elos
produces a slight tingling feeling, and on the most sensitive areas
of the skin, patients may only feel a quick, light pinch. Side
effects are very rare, and elos technology assures a higher comfort
level than any laser technology available.
Does it hurt?
No. elōs acne treatment is very comfortable and requires no topical
anesthetics or other skin preparations. For your added safety and
peace of mind, elōs technology features an advanced patient comfort
system, which monitors your skin and keeps it at a soothing cool
temperature during the procedure.
Treatment with elōs is easy. There’s no surgery, no sedation, and no
downtime. And most procedures take 30 minutes or less.
How much does it cost?
Treatment costs vary. Your medical practitioner will go over these
details with you during your initial consultation.
Is elos
safe?
elos requires lower
overall energy levels for superior results and maximum safety. Most
people experience no side effects at all, though a few exhibit some
short-term local reddening of the surrounding skin. Treatments
require no patient downtime.

Acne
Treatment
How does Acne Treatment
with elōs™ work?
The eMax uses a specific
spectrum of light that targets the bacteria that actually causes
acne. When this bacteria proliferates in clogged pores it can cause
bumpy and inflamed acne lesions. The eMax combines light and gentle
radio-frequency energies to decrease proliferation of acne-causing
bacteria, and may also affect the sebaceous gland from
over-production of oil and promote healing of the skin after acne
break-outs.
What results can one
expect from the eMax Applicator treatment?
Over a series of
treatments with the eMax, most patients notice a faster healing time
of existing acne lesions. Frequency and severity of acne lesions
should subside as the treatments go on. As well, on-going treatments
can help to prevent acne break-outs and promote skin healing after
acne break-outs by evening out skin tone and texture.
How frequently does one
need eMax Applicator treatments?
Treatments are done twice
a week for four-six weeks. Each treatment session takes
approximately 15 minutes. After the initial series of treatments,
additional treatments may be prescribed spread out over a longer
interval time to fine-tune your therapy and help maintain the
results.
What happens after each
eMax Applicator treatment?
Temporary pinkness in the
skin lasts a very short time, and most people return to work or
normal activities immediately after treatment. Every patient
responds differently but most patients report that they notice
improvement as early as three weeks into the treatment series.
What is the average
number of treatments for eMax?
Active acne is treated
for 4 to 8 sessions performed every other week, followed by
maintenance treatments at monthly intervals. Improvement in acne
lesion size may not be noticed until half-way through the initial
treatment series.
Is treatment with the
eMax
Applicator safe?
Treatment is very safe
for all skin tones, even very dark skin. There are many advances in
the eMax technology that make it one of the safest acne treatment
systems available. There is no long term health hazards from light
or radio-frequency energies used in the eMax. Both have been used for
decades in medicine, surgery, and aesthetics without adversity.
How is eMax Applicator
treatment tolerated by the patient?
The sensation is often
described as “a hot pinch” feeling. The sensation only lasts for
a fraction of a second, and you may feel warmth or a tingling
sensation for a short time afterward. The cooling tip that touches
the skin surface makes the treatment both comfortable and safe. Most
patients do not use topical anesthetic to numb the skin for this
procedure.
Who should get eMax
Applicator treatment for acne?
Anyone who wants an
alternative to traditional topical or oral therapies for acne, or
who have not responded to traditional acne solutions. Acne on the
face, chest, and back are all treatable with the eMax. There are a few
medical conditions that contraindicate people from treatment.
